SolarWorld, will it stay in business?????

I am looking to buy a system, and have MANY bids from various companies. I am down to Rec Solar, and another local company that either uses Solar World panels, or a made in China panels. I like the new 270W Solar World panel, and am fully aware of the recent influx of cash to keep the company afloat. However, its stock is in the penny range, Vs Rec solar, which is booming, and looks to be very stable.

DO YOU THINK SOLAR WORLD WILL BE AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE GOOD ON ITS NEW 30 YEAR WARRANTY???

I had "International Window Co" retrofit all my home windows, that came with a "life time warranty". Yet, they went bankrupt in this down economy, 3 months later, they re-organized, and re-opened as "International Window Co.", but,, "We do not honor any of the previous companies warranties"... I do not want to go through that again!!!

I highly doubt that any present panel company will be in business long enough into the future to honor the tail end of a 20-30 year warranty. Same for the inverter manufacturers.

So with that in mind, (that probably none of the current solar manufacturers will be in business for the life of their warranty), I guess a lease is your best option if you want a warranty, for at least 20 years! (I would prepay the lease).

Anyone guess if Sunrun will be in business for 20 years??

I mean,, thinking in the way of they will all go away,, sure makes it a hard decision to even think of putting a system on your roof!

I would worry more about the inverter companies
Panels are actually pretty simple devices with a long history of lasting and not much to go wrong unless they are physically broken by hail or other damage.

I would worry more on a prepaid lease than on a monthly lease.
The revenue stream is over at the beginning of those ( well actually 5 years in when depreciation runs out.)
There is little inspiration for them to come and spend money on your system at that point.
