A local Arizona installer is working with SMA to install battery systems along with solar to specifically shave peak power usage and minimize demand charges:

American Solar also will equip the homes with lithium-ion batteries that can charge during midday when solar production peaks, and dispatch power in late afternoon to minimize power being drawn from the utility.
