    Barbed fittings

I've used 5/8 irrigation tubing in the past. Lowe's has compression fittings. Also barbed.
Making a solar pool heater now. All I saw at Lowe's for 3/4 black poly tubing are Barb fittings. Using them, a coupling for instance takes the 3/4 pipe down to maybe 1/2 when inserted. Grrrrr. Are there comp fittings available similar to the 5/8 at Lowe's, home Depot etc for 3/4?

Most irrigation tubing runs a low temperatures and pressure. What kind of nunbers are you seeing on your installation?

This is not an endorsement of using irrigation tubing for pool heating applications, but even under stagnation conditions (no water circulation), if it sits under a cloudless sky during extended windless conditions for a few hours on either side of solar noon, common irrigation tubing in any practical unglazed pool heating application will not see any combination of temperatures or internal pressures that will pose a safety concern.

Operating conditions for most any pool heating application will be limited to internal pressures of pump outlet head and a temperature of a few degrees above the pool water temp. Those conditions present no problem to irrigation tubing are no more severe than conditions encountered when using irrigation tubing for its intended purpose.

        Thanks for the replies.
I found 3/4 compression fittings similar to the 1/2" ones Lowe's etc sells if anyone's interested.

I'll make a new thread about my total amateur solar pool heater fail (so far)
