Somewhat unexpectedly LG decided to abandon solar markets: https://www.lg.com/us/notice-2 They would still provide warranty for their panels but I suspect it would be somewhat difficult to get exact replacement units. I have 52 LG panels on my house roof and not too worried about potential warranty claims but definitely it is

I think I've made the point a few times that you don't really want "high-efficiency" high-dollar panels - rather you want good-value, mainstream panels from a company that will still be in business to back their 25 year warranty. LG of course, will still be in business even though they quit the solar game - but good luck getting satisfaction on any warranty claims from now on......

Canadian Solar, Q-cells, Silfab, REC, Trina are all "Tier 1" companies that are likely (no guarantees) to make it in the long term...

I bought some BP Solar panels 14 years ago and they honored a warranty claim six years later after they got out of the solar panel business. I hope the same is true for LG.

Well, I think some of you put way too many eggs in that "25-year warranty" basket anyway.

Solar panel warranties are not worth the paper they are written on......a marketing gimmick at best. If you want to protect your investment just buy a few extra panels that match the ones on your roof. Put them in your garage or attic........then relax.

That may be your experience but mine has been different. After BP went out of the solar business I received a check from them for a warranty claim. Prices for panels had dropped significantly in that six years such that I was able to buy an extra kiloWatt of panels to replace the ones I turned in. I don't expect a repeat of that experience.

Kyocera is one exception to that statement.

I have 72 Kyocera panels installed over ten years ago. The first batch of 36 235w panels had 5 panels with dark spots and one panel with snail trails. Kyocera's position was that the spots and snails trails were cosmetic only and would not affect the performance of the panels. After ten years they were right....the panels are performing admirably but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

But to their credit they did offer to send me one replacement panel if I agreed to pay for shipping from CA to IN. I agreed but the shipping was more than the cost of the panel. That panel along with 6 others including 3 Trina 245 panels sit in my parts storage area.
