    Tariffs are back?

From today's WSJ-- 2nd section, last page

Sunday, a group of senators sent a letter to Biden asking to speed up a solar tariff case that has prompted outcries from industry. Today (according to the article) solar cost roughly 57% more expensive in the U.S. than in Germany and nearly 70% than China. The European Union ended tariffs on Chinese solar back in 2018.

The tariff they are asking could go up to 250% AND APPLIED RETROACTIVELY!

OK, no fan of China here! But the cries for more green solar are will be in for sticker shock. So $39+K for 10KW system might turnout to be great deal some months from now.

Another case for conservation and use reduction. Hard to put a tariff on what you don't consume.

Much is due to the human overhead cost. And lately, I note metal I buy
has tripled in price in a deade. Bruce Roe
