I'm looking at grid-tie DIY rooftop residential solar in Indian River County (IRC) Florida, without storage. The grid is provided by Florida Power & Light (FPL). I've done DIY solar roof install in the past, so I know the basics, but not in Florida.
The Florida power bill shows "fuel" at at $0.02839/kWh and "non-fuel" at $0.09463/kWh. I assume that means that FPL would only credit 2.839 cents for every kWh sent back to them, so it doesn't justify a big system. But a more modest install may still make sense.
Can someone point me to any building code or other restrictions that would apply to an IRC installation? I'm having a hard time finding what codes and regulations are applicable in Florida or IRC. Can you even talk with an AHJ in IRC?
Thank you!
