Inverter feedback or drawing from the grid

Seems like your inverter is set to throttle back production so as not to export to the grid and to prioritise battery usage over grid usage.
Drawing is when you do not have enough energy from either your battery or panels or both to supply the house load so it 'pulls' from the grid.
Feeding back or export is the opposite when you produce more than you need and export to the grid for credits.
The amount drawn or exported depends on the criteria you or your installer have set for the inverter's prioritisation.

Many thanks for your reply.
Yes, my inverter is set to 'Zero export to grid'
I understand that 'drawing from the grid' happens when there is not enough production from the panels and the batteries are depleted.
This is not the case unfortunately as you can see from the pic above.
The batteries are fully charged and there's plenty of production available.
Yet there is still a small amount (20w) being 'exported' or 'drawn' from the grid????
I'm not sure why this happens.

Its near impossible to get zero unless its physical connection is broken. The electrical grid is a fluid like mechanism similar to water pressure. In order to stop inward flow, the 'pressure' from the inverter must be slightly greater than the grid and vice versa. Another thing to keep in mind are that the readings have margins of errors and are never precise.

I have a Generac inverter. Right now it is in "Self Supply" mode (home running mainly off the batteries) and the inverter is still drawing between 1 and 45 watts from the grid. I think that's more of a "heartbeat" kind of draw.
